Johan Coetzee is a professional South African artist best known for his landscape and figure paintings in oil, water colour, charcoal and etchings. He also does sculpting. Johan was born in Uganda in 1947 and he studied graphic art at the Cape Town Technicon from 1966 – 1969. He has been working as a full time artist since 1975 and has held 15 solo exhibitions and has participated in numerous group shows and was the chairman of the Bellville branch of the South African Arts Association for many years. He also served on the Board of Rust & Vrede Gallery in Durbanville. His art is represented in public and private collections throughout South Africa. Johan currently lives and works in Bellville, South Africa.
