Inner Eden:

I believe that an artist is never decoupled from both her interior landscapes nor from the world she lives in. I have been on an infinitely intense journey for the past few years, on a creative and personal level. A very intimate, arduous, heart wrenching, yet expansive and significant process to motherhood has been a private, yet central theme in my life. This existentially arresting process has inevitably reconstructed and altered the very fibers of my being and my creative process is undergoing shifts and changes I don’t yet have words for, nor do I suspect I ever will.

Shortly after accepting the invitation to Inner Eden I fell pregnant with twins after an almost three-year trek through the wilderness of our fertility story. The entire “game” changed in a split second, and to honour the new life growing within me and do justice to this artistic collaboration was no small feat.

As I surfaced from the ever typical harrowingly tough first trimester, I was left with less time to create than I had bargained for, so it was paramount to me that I conveyed even just a smidgen of the vastness I am experiencing in a deliberate and intentional way. My growing babies showed the way as we discovered that I was expecting a boy and a girl. The beauty and simplicity of this duality was a clear way-shower in my conceptualization.

The foundational makeup of our energetic composition as humans is the delicate and divine interplay of masculine and feminine; the age-old Yin and Yang. We all consist of a beautifully unique alchemical elixir of the soft, intuitive, mutable and nurturing qualities of the feminine and the strong, focused and powerful essence of the masculine.

I decided to base my central pieces focusing on the polarity and dichotomy of the contrasts within our solar system by looking to the mystical qualities of our mysteriously feminine moon and her wonderfully magical cyclical nature, juxtaposed to the sun with his magnificent masculine vibrancy and brilliance.

The golden thread running through this body of work is the celebration of life, abundance, mystery and creation on all levels of existence. After all, I am experiencing Inner Eden on such magnificently multidimensional levels.
